Say it at so.

Let me take you guys back a couple of years. The New Orleans Saints hired a new head coach. He's passionate, full of emotion, and one of the top defensive coordinators in the game. The team just came of a horrible 3-13 season under the legend Mike Ditka. Haslett led the Saints to a 10-6 record and a 3 point playoff victory over the Rams, then got blown out by the Vikings. The following season the Saints have a chance to make the postseason but collapse at the end to go 7-9.

In 2006 the Saints hired a new coach, who was  passionate, full of emotion, and one of the top offensive coordinators in the game. Ironically enough the team had just come off another horrible 3-13 campaign under Jim Haslett. Well, Payton led the Saints to a 10-6 record and a 3 point playoff victory over the Eagles, then got blown out by the Bears. The following season hopes were high. There were numerous writers accross the nation picking the Saints to represent the NFC in the superbowl. Well, you all know what happened. The Saints have a chance to make the postseason but collapse at the end to go 7-9.

So now we wait for next year. If we go 9-7 and miss the playoffs, I will truly believe we our cursed. I want to believe things are different. I see how hard Coach Payton works at being the best. Drew Brees is not Aaron Brooks, and there are so many other differences between the two teams that I don't have the time to list. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Gotta Have Faith!

Not this time, BUB.  Sean P. is actually building a team, not destroying one like Haz did.  Payton isn't letting good players get away (Joe Johnson, La'roi Glover, Willie Roaf), and isn't bringing in high-priced FAs that don't mesh with the "team" concept or don't set the franchise back a few years (Dale Carter, Tebucky Jones, Albert Connell).

De ja vu !!!!

Thru thick and thin, I'll always love them.

Jason David & Brian Simmons are a minor set-back, but I agree with you. It is just odd how similar the results are to date. Regardless of how they have gotten there.

Yeah I think the difference this time around is Mickey Loomis. Just see what Randy Muellers done to the Dolphins.

De ja vu !!!!

That may be true, but Mickey Loomis was hired in 2002 I think. So he was part of the Haslett era.

I got a different read, to me he looks subdued. Thinking constantly and constantly chewing his gum. I can only remember him absolutely laying into a player once.
